Tips to prevent Falls
As the weather gets wetter and leaves hit the ground falls can be common.
There are several things you can do to prevent falls outside. Firstly make sure you are wearing appropriate footwear and remember to take your walking aid if you have been prescribed one. Taking up some gentle exercises to work on your balance will help as will making sure you have your eyes and hearing checked recently.
Look out for uneven pavements and take care when it’s icy.
Ways to reduce the risk of indoor falls include making sure that there is adequate lighting in your hallways.
Look around your home for trip hazards such as loose rugs or cables and don’t rush to the door in a hurry.
